Located just south of Columbia, SC, Orangeburg Country Club is one of the most outstanding private clubs in the Midlands. We are currently seeking a dedicated, responsible applicant to manage our bar. This Bar Manager position oversees bar staff and operations, making sure the bar is being run efficiently on day-to-day basis.


Bar Manager duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assuring bar is always clean and functioning at a high standard to meet the club's needs
  • Using creativity and uniqueness to come up with seasonal cocktails, drink specials and promotions
  • Training and managing bartenders
  • Resolving member and guest complaints
  • Ensuring staff is following food safety guidelines and cleanliness
  • Assuring bar is well stocked by handling weekly ordering and inputting monthly inventory

Must haves

  • Leadership skills: effectively leading your bar staff to be productive and organized
  • Problem solving: diffusing situations in the bar and effectively handling issues in a manner suitable to members, guests and staff
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well within a team: Including understanding direction from the Food & Beverage Manager and the General Manager and developing working relationships with employees and members
  • Computer Skills: must be able to learn POS system and enter inventory into spreadsheets

Bar Knowledge must haves

  • Proficiency in making basic cocktails, (Cosmos, Old Fashion, Manhattans, margaritas etc.)
  • Liquor, beer and wine knowledge
  • Wine knowledge is a MUST
  • Organization and general knowledge of all beverage ordering, including liquor, wine , beer, and non- alcoholic beverages

Additional

  • Creating and updating the wine list in coordination with the Head Chef and the Food and Beverage Manager
  • Recommending food and wine pairings
  • Informing members about different varieties of wine and their pricing
  • Wine ordering
  • Training staff on wine selections
  • Organizing wine cooler and keeping it stocked appropriately
  • Extensive knowledge on different wines including regions, production and type
  • Understanding of the wine making process
  • Ability to host wine pairing dinners and events
  • Public speaking and the ability to converse easily with staff, members and guests
